NAUTH’s new CMD, Prof Ugboaja, resumes work

The newly confirmed Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) Nnewi, Anambra State Prof Joseph Ugboaja has resumed work.

The hospital community which has been keeping vigil for the arrival of the newly confirmed CMD surprised him with a colorful reception that featured music, dance and masquerade display.

Prof Ugboaja and the chairman of the board of NAUTH, Mr Ezekiel Afukonyo did not disappoint the excited workforce as they danced to the melodious musical renditions during the occasion.

The chairman of NAUTH’s board, Mr Afukonyo while addressing the ecstatic staffers noted that struggle to enthrone the new CMD was actually a war between light and darkness.

He reassured that the hospital would be better off with Prof Ugboaja on the saddle of leadership in the health institution.

The board chairman revealed with excitement that Prof Ugboaja while on acting capacity has radically and positively transformed everything about the hospital.

Afukonyo however drummed up support of the staff and management for the new CMD noting that it is incumbent on everyone of them to support and cooperate with the CMD in his aspiration to make NAUTH one of the five best medical facilities in the country.

Prof Ugboaja in his brief remarks thanked all and sundry for their support for his aspiration even as he promised the teeming staff of NAUTH that he would not let them down.

He reassured the staff welfare and man power development would be paramount to the new administration even as he revealed that a public spirited philanthropist has offered to invest over ten billion Naira (N10b) into NAUTH.

The new CMD at the occasion conducted the board chairman and other dignitaries round the new projects and medical facilities he has attracted to the hospital while on acting capacity.

It would be recalled that President Muhamadu Buhari recently confirmed Prof Ugboaja as the substantive CMD of NAUTH after his earlier appointment on acting capacity.
