Police In Kano Arrest Woman For Defrauding Traders With Fake Bank Alerts

A female suspected notorious fraudster, Fati Umar Dikko of Rijiyar Zaki Quarters, Gwale Local Government Area, Kano is now cooling her heels at the Kano state Police Headquarters for defrauding hapless traders at different times across the state, with fake bank alerts after purchasing goods.


Police records indicated that Fati had serially defrauded a number of traders at different locations within the ancient commercial city until luck ran out on her, following a number of complaints lodged against her by victims of her crime.


According to the Kano Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa who briefed journalists on behalf of the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, Fati defrauded a number of traders of their goods, particularly wrappers and other items, running into hundreds of thousands of Naira.


The Police Image-Maker hinted that: “complaints were lodged by Jamilu Musa,  Aliyu Inusa,  and Sadiya Muhammad,  all of different addresses within Kano metropolis, that, between September  11 and 14, 2021, one Fati Umar Dikko of Rijiyar Zaki Quarters, Gwale LGA Kano, went to their shops located at various addresses in Kano and on different occasions, make the following purchases: four pieces of wrappers valued N57,000.00, three pieces of Lace materials and one Hand Bag valued at N90,000.00, six  pieces of wrappers valued at N51,400.00.


“The suspect in all the three occasions made fake credit alerts and left with the items.


“On receipt of the complaints, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi raised and instructed a team of detectives led by SP Daniel Itse Amah to trace and arrest the culprit.


“The team swiftly swung in to action and following credible intelligence arrested the suspect while trying to collect another material bought using fake alert.


“On preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed that, she specialized in showing fake alerts to her victims and confessed to the crime.


“After the arrest of the suspect, four more complainants surfaces by  Rita Rawland,  Hauwa Sani, (Ramatu Isah,  Hadiza Abdullahi, all of different addresses and stated that, the suspect made purchases in their shops respectively as follows: One Food Flask valued N80,000.00, Materials amounting to N232,000.00, wrappers of the sum of N78,000.00, Lace Material of the sum of N65,000.00, where she shown fake alerts to them.


“However, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi famously referred by the good people of Kano State as “Nagari-Nakowa” ordered for discreet investigation. Suspect will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.”
