Just In: Emir Of Gaya Is Dead

The first Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya is dead.

He died at the early hours of Wednesday after a brief illness, a Palace source told The AUTHORITY.

The First Class Emir who was among the four Emirs installed by Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, at the wake of the creation of four new Emirates of Gaya, Karaye, Bichi and Rano, in Kano state, was believed to be above 90 years before his demise.

He recently turbaned Secretary to Kano State Government (SSG), Alhaji Usman Alhaji as Wazirin Gaya.

He is believed to be the oldest  (in age) among the five First Class Emirs in Kano state.

Before his ascension to the throne as the first historic Emir of Gaya, he was the District Head of Kunchi and Minjibir, at different times.

Though Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is officially out of the state as at the time of his death, a government delegation is already in the Gaya Emirate to commiserate with his immediate family and the people of Gaya over the death of the First Class Monarch.

Details of his burial rites and other traditional rituals follow shortly.
