Akume, Aondoakaa preach unity at Tarka’s birthday celebration, album launch

Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Senator George Akume and former Attorney-General of the Federation, Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, have called on Nigerians to jealously guard against break up of the country.

The two top Benue’s politicians made this call at a birthday celebration of Pastor Chris Tarka and album release party of his wife, Mrs Maryann Chris Tarka on Monday in Abuja.

The AUTHORITY reports that Chris is the son of late Senator Joseph Tarka, a prominent Nigerian politician from Benue State and a former Minister of Transport and then Communications under General Yakubu Gowon’s military regime.

Akume, who commended Chris and his wife for their commitments to a better Nigeria through their contributions to the society, said he was not suprise as their late father, Joseph Tarka, gave all he had to ensure a united and stable Nigeria.

“I advise those calling for break up of Nigeria to desist from it.
May war never happen again. We have a great country. Tarka despite a civilian wore colonel uniform during the civil war to keep Nigeria as united country.

” Let us continue to pray for the unity of the contry as we move towards its independence anniversary, ” Akume, who was a former Governor of Benue State, said.

On the celebrant, Akume, also a former senator, described Pastor Takar as an extraordinary man, who is always available to help the needy, even as she commended the wife for the album.

” Listen to this music, music of hope, music of love, that tomorrow will be greater than today,” he said.

On his part, the former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Aondoakaa said those calling for the break up of Nigeria should go for a psychatric test.

While lavishing praises on the celebrant and his wife, Aondoakaa harped on the need for Nigerians to always exhibit love towards each other.

On his part, Pastor Tarka, who was celebrating his 63 years birthday, expressed gratitude to God and urged Nigerians not to lose hope in any condition they found themselves.

“I thank God, it is a wonderful moment for me. I give God the glory…

“In the midst of everything you are going through, don’t look down but look up to God, not on men,” he said.

Speaking further, Pastor Tarka said God, who has made it possible for Nigeria to be one, will never allow it to collapse.

On her part, Maryann Tarka, said she decided to wax the album following inspiration from God

” They were inspirations given to me by God. I have 10 songs as a whole but in this album I have three songs,” the urban and regional planner said.

On one of the tracks in the album – ‘We Need Your Presence, Mrs Tarka said Nigeria needs God to overcome its challenges.

Highpoint of the event was the launch of the album by dignitaries at the event, performances by gospel groups, among others.
