APC: No Congresses in Anambra, Zamfara

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Caretaker and Extra Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), has excluded Anambra and Zamfara states from its proposed state congresses on October 16.

This even as the committee said it has adopted the report of its Local government congress committee, and approved the conduct of the state congresses.

The committee had earlier noted that while the congresses were put on hold in Anambra state, due to the upcoming governorship election in the state on November 6, it was also put on hold in Zamfara, following the recent defection of Governor Mohammed Muttawale, from the opposition Peoples. Democratic Party (PDP), to the APC.

It stated further that ithe suspension was to enable Zamfara state APC to complete its membership registration exercise which was resumed as a result of the defections.

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) stated this in a statement issued by its secretary, Senator John Udoedehe, at the end of  its 17th regular meeting, Wednesday, in Abuja
“The CECPC considered and adopted the Local Government Areas (LGAs) Congresses Reports. However, the CECPC will look into any areas where there are disputes.

“The CECPC directed that the conduct of the State Congresses shall proceed on Saturday 16th October, 2021, while Zamfara and Anambra States are exempted accordingly,”. .the statement noted.
