Police in Kano nab three suspected kidnappers, two drug barons

Police in Kano have arrested three kidnappers and two drug barons who have been terrorizing Kano residents with threats of kidnap and robbery in recent times.


Four of the suspects are from Plateau and Sokoto states, but resident in Kano where they carry out their nefarious activities.
According to the Kano state police Command Public Relations Officers, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who spoke on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, the kidnappers who had earlier collected the sum of N1 million from their victim, had demanded for another N2 million before they were nabbed.


He said, “on the September, 23, 2021, a report was received from a resident of Kwanar Ganduje, Sharada Phase II Quarters,  Kano, that he was contacted and threatened on the telephone to pay the sum of N2,000,000:00, otherwise, himself or any member of his family would be kidnapped, and that, sometimes in the month of August 2021, he was contacted with the same phone number and was threatened to be kidnap, where he gave the sum of N1,000,000:00. 


“Upon receipt of the complaint, the Commissioner of Police, Kano state Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, fsi raised and instructed a team of detectives led by SP Shehu Dahiru to trace and arrest the culprit. 


“The team swiftly swung into action. Following credible intelligence and sustained follow-up, trace and arrested the suspects: Salihu Usman (24) of Anguwan Rogo, Jos, Plateau State;  Mubarak Aliyu (18) of Duwala Area, Jos, Plateau State and Sahibul Husna Auwal (17) of Kwanar Ganduje Sharada Quarters, Kano.


“On preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed to have conspired and sent threatening text messages to the complainant demanding the sum of N2,000,000:00. 


“They also confessed to have previously collected the sum of N1,000,000:00 from him. Suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.”


DSP Abdullahi further stated that based on credible information received, a team of detectives led by DSP Mutari Jibrin Dawanau while working on credible intelligence, raided a house located at Sabuwar Gandu Quarters, Kumbosto Local Government Area, Kano State, where two suspects: Musa Abdullahi  (25) of Dandire Sokoto state and  Imran Muhammad (27) of Tirkawa, Sabon Birni Local Goveenment Area, Sokoto State were arrested.


Exhibits found with them include  129 packets of Exol Tablets valued at N3,225,000.00,  25 empty packets of Diazapam Tablets, eight Mobile Phones, 10 Identity  Cards with different photographs, one  Toshiba Laptop, one Sharp Horn, one suspected Army face mask,  bunch of charms, cash sum of N67,935.00.


He added that the  suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
