One-One-Million Man Match: SEG Urges Enugu Residents, State Government to Disregard Protest Threat

…Commends Ohaneze Ndigbo for Distancing Self from Impostors

Frontline sociopolitical pressure group in Enugu State, the Save Enugu Group (SEG) has called on the people and government of Enugu State to ignore faceless individuals claiming to be mobilising “to protest against Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi administration over imaginary demand for accountability in the state.”

The group in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Chief Willy Ezugwu, commended Ohaneze Ndigbo, Enugu State, for distancing itself from the purported One-One-Million man match meant to demand for imaginary accountability from the governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

According to the statement, SEG observed that “Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths in Enugu State, while dissociating their reputable organisation from the publication claiming to have emanated from the group, which claimed that it was assembling a one million-man match to demand for accountability from the state government.

“We commend the Youth Leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Enugu State, Mazi Nnamdi Odo for swiftly insisting that the call couldn’t have emanated from the organisation as they have no reason to call for such.

“While we await the outcome of the pledge by the Ohanaeze youths to fish out the renegades responsible for the false alarm, we call on the people and government of Enugu State not to lose sleep over the empty threat by some faceless individuals”, the SEG said.

Speaking on the achievements of the Governor Ugwuanyi administration, the Save Enugu Group maintained that “It is very laughable for anyone who is a visitor to Enugu, let alone a resident, to ask where the funds accruing to the state have been in the last six years.

“How did the infrastructural revolution in the entire communities in Enugu State happen?

“Even in a pandemic era where the federal government is struggling to meet up its financial obligations, the Governor Ugwuanyi administration has continued to not only meet its financial obligation but has outperformed every other administration before it.

“We then call on all the youths and their leaders not to allow themselves to be used by desperate politicians who do not mean well for the people of the state.

“SEG has continued to advocate for good governance in Enugu State over the years. Today, we have seen a government that cares for the ordinary people of the state in the last six years.

“We therefore call on political actors in the state to bury selfish politics and support a performing administration which has shown proven leadership since 2015”, the SEG noted.
