In pursuit of its avowed determination to reach out to the rural poor and mitigate their medical needs, CEDAMB Hospital in collaboration with MAP International and Access Mission Foundation, Wednesday, 22nd December, in Abuja, distributed drugs and medicals worth over forty two million Naira to indigent patients.
While distributing the drugs in Mpape, a rural community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the medical director, CEDAMB, Dr Uche Nwalor who is also the founder of Regina Ogbonna Eke Empowerment Foundation (ROEF), explained that the foundation is committed towards empowering and solving the health needs of the poor as a philanthropic organization.
He extolled the commitment, philanthropy and concern of its American partner, Mrs Audrey Brown, Founder of Access Foundation and MAP who provided the drugs and other medicaments and asked that they be given free to the poor who have challenges assessing health care.
He reiterated that the drugs are free. He expressed his pleasure to associate with a philanthropist whose concern is the health needs of the poor among other things.
Dr Uche disclosed that the medical outreach is meant to cover five geo-political zones of the country, namely, Katsina for North west, Adamawa state for North east, FCT for North central, Imo for South east and Delta state for South south. He also said that the foundation has been involved in other aspects of philanthropy for the needy like paying school fees, providing wheel chairs for the cripple as well as settling medical bills of the indigent stating that the medical outreach was a special gift for the yuletide season.
Dr Nwalor who expressed optimism on the high quality of the drugs, explained that the medical outreach was essentially to tackle the diseases that are predominant to the community.
The flag-off which started at CEDAMB Hospital also moved to Mpape Primary Health Centre. At the Centre, Dr Uche implored the management to ensure that the drugs are given freely to the deserving patients adding that if it was well administered, the Centre would benefit in the next round.
The team was welcomed by Mrs Mabel Egbuna who stood in for her boss, Mrs Selina Asor, head of the facility. She promised to make good use of the drugs and timeously too. Dr Uche explained that the drugs are mainly for anti-fungal, hypertensive patients, diabetic patients and multi vitamins. He promised that every patient that avails himself and clearly diagnosed would benefit from the free drugs.
