The Christian burial rites of late Lady Roseline Ifeoma Onyeka ,(new Okafor) began yesterday with a wake keep at the Enugu residence of her husband, Dr Emma Onyeka,located at Obinagu road Abakpa Nike..
Mrs Rose Onyeka,who died at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) after a brief illness, was an ardent Christian and an ordained member of the Catholic church, and together with her husband, Dr Emma Onyeka, attained the spiritual height of knighthood of the Catholic church.
Rev.Father Nonso Chukwu, who officiated at the wake keep, described the late lady as very faithful Christian who contributed tirelessly in her services to the church. He prayed for the repose of her soul, consoling the family to look up to God since they did everything humanly possible to let her survive but only God knows why she is called home at this stage of her life.
According to family sources. her funeral rites will continue on Wednesday,January 26 ,as her remains will be conveyed from Dorah Memorial mortuary Oji River, with a brief stop- over at her father’[s compound,,Okpuno Ahani Achi. Thereafter, the remains will depart for final mass at Sacred Hear Catholic church, Umuome Inyi.It will be followed by commitment of her remains to mother earth. at her husband’s country home,Umuome Inyi.
Her funeral rite will continue at her fathher’s compound ,late Thompson Okafor. at Okpuno Ahani Achi, in Oji River local government area,on Friday January 28.It will be rounded off with an outing service on Sunday, January 30,at Sacred Heart Catholic church Umuome Inyi.
