APC chairmanship: House of reps aspirant drums support for Akume

Ahead of the February 26 convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a top contender for Gboko/Tarka Federal House of Representatives Seat in 2023, Mr Cosmas Akighir,  has called for support for Senator George Akume in his aspiration to become the next chairman of the party.

Speaking   during a consultation tour in Ikyumbur, Mbadim, Mbatiav, Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State, Akighir said that Sen. Akume is a visionary leader who has served in various capacities at different levels of government.

He, therefore, called on all card carrying members of the APC across the country to eschew all forms of political differences and support Akume insisting that, “he is a leader with a development mindset and is capable to lead the APC to the path of success in the 2023 general elections.”

According to Akighir:  “With his wealth of experience as governor of Benue State for 8 years, 3rd term Senator who also served as minority leader in the Senate and now Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, he is the most qualified for the number one office of the APC.

‘Sen Akume is a politician with great exposure with friends and associates spread across the country.

“I hereby call on all  members of the APC across the country to support Sen. George Akume so that he will continue to bring more innovative ideas for the benefit of the party and Nigerians,” Akighir said.

Also, in a letter to the students’ union representatives, Benue State University Chapter, Makurdi, Akighir solicited support for the minister and charged the students to look beyond sentiments reiterating that Sen. Akume is the most qualified candidate for the APC national chairmanship position.
