The president general Global Peace Movement International, UK, Mr. Mike Uyi has attributed the recent killing of no fewer than 19 soldiers and police men during an attack on the convoy of the Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Samaila Dabai Yombe to activities of unscrupulous and unpatriotic citizens who compromise by providing criminals with details about security formations and movements.
Uyi who condemned the attack in strong terms said Nigerians must learn to support and protect the country’s uniform men and women saddled with the responsibilities of protecting lives and properties as well as the integrity and surverinty of the nation by according them support in the course of discharging their activities.
He cited examples with the ongoing war in Ukraine that it is the citizenry who made it difficult for Russia to over-run the country at ease by standing round their military and encouraging them by providing them supports that further boost their morale to fight for the country’s sovereignty.
Uyi stressed that for our soldiers and other security outfits to emerge victorious, every citizen must lend his or her support that way, “These men and women will continue to believe their sacrifices are worth it and appreciated, and will give their best, this is what we see in other countries and it’s high time our people also learn from it”, he added.
The GPMI president applaud the COAS Lt. Gen Yahaya Faruk on the ongoing onslaught against the bandits, Boko Haram and other criminals attacking the country as more successes are recorded in recent times under his directives .
He assured the COAS their support and prayers at GPMI and and expressed optimism that the army under his command will soon overcome the enemies of Nigeria and issues of insecurity in whatever form will soon be in the past.
Uyi console the families of the Army officers and Policemen who were ambushed in the Deputy Governor’s convoy and pray God grant them the fortitude to bear their loss and remember that the sacrifices of these men are highly appreciated.
He further calls for support for the government and that people must expose anyone known to be a sponsor of banditry and other criminalities in the country for prosecution.
It could be recalled that the attack took place on Tuesday, the same day gunmen ambushed and killed at least 62 members of a volunteer vigilante group in Nigeria’s northwestern Kebbi state in the worst violence to hit the state since mid-January.
