APC: Presidential aspirant canvasses for Female Vice President

Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, the only female presidential aspirant in the All Progressives Congress, Mrs. Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, emphasized that the Nigerian women are due to be appointed as Vice presidential candidare in the ruling All Progressives Congress

Ohanenye, who paid her compulsory N30m Expression of Interest Forms to obtain her form for the race, therefore called on the National Leadership of the party to consider a female Vice Presidential candidate for the 2023 presidential election.

The presidential hopeful who spoke to journalists after an outreach at the National Hospital in Abuja, attributed what she described as the inability of leaders to involve women in leadership to the numerous challenges, especially the problem of development and peace in the country, stressing that women are more endowed for responsible leadership that can engender peace in the society

She said, “For a while, I have been touching lives all over the country, I don’t want to be limited to a particular region. If I’m a governor I’m limited to my state, if I’m a senator I’m restricted to the constituency that voted for me. If I’m a president, I’m open to all Nigerians, I can touch their lives, I will have the power to change things for the better for these less privileged people that I have been working for. I will have the power to all, because as a President whatever decision I take will touch everybody in the country. I don’t want to be a senator because to me, it’s a very dull job. For me I work more under pressure and I work more under threat so I have the capacity and the ability to deliver the goods.”

Addressing the women on her ambition, she said, “I’m pleading with them to know that as a woman, all these men that have ruled us and that have had power in the past and are still having powers were born by women. These bandits that we are talking about were born by women, the armed robbers, the kidnappers, they were born by women. I am pleading with the women to avoid and prevent our children from joining banditry, kidnapping, killing or anything of such crimes. Let us come out and stand firmly for a woman to take charge. If a woman takes charge, it may not be me, perhaps another woman, I would equally be pleased.

“So what they lack is care and involvement in government of the day. That’s why I’m pleading with the women to come out and let these men know that we are their mothers. They have tried but we are not satisfied, they should step aside and let women come on board. Its one of the reasons I came on board and believe me I will be very firm to support and protect these my children including the president and all other men, they are my children because they were born by a woman. For me to be able to do this, I have to be tough and I am.

“If I become the president, there are 3 major things I am going to tackle within 6 months. People will see the impact of what I have done. Education, health, and road infrastructure. I’m going to localise most of the things. Like roads, most of the roads leading to different states would be locally constructed. The cement, block, stone and sand, we have them in the country. We must harness all these in the building of roads and I can assure you it will be strong and secure.”

Asked the kind of presidency should would want APC to constitute, she said, “I will choose a man and I will advise a male flag bearer to choose a woman because two opposite sexes work better.”
