STOAN assures cooperation with new Transport Ministers

From Anthony Nwachukwu, Lagos

The Seaport Terminal Operators Association of Nigeria (STOAN) has expressed confidence in the ability of the new Minister of Transportation, Mr. Mu’azu Sambo, and Minister of State, Mr. Ademola Adegoroye, to fulfil the vision of President Muhammadu Buhari for the sector.
Felicitating with them on their appointments, STOAN Chairman, Princess Vicky Haastrup, assured of the port terminal operators’ full cooperation
towards a hitch-free and successful discharge of the ministers’ assignment.
In a statement at the weekend, Haastrup expressed confidence that Sambo’s previous rich work experience in the maritime industry will help him succeed in his new task.
Given his wealth of experience, “we have no doubt that you (Sambo) will make significant positive impact as the minister of transportation,” she said.
“We are particularly happy with your appointment, considering your rich work experience and numerous contributions to nation building, both within and outside the maritime industry.”
This included “your experience as the immediate past minister of state in the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, and previous work experience in the Nigerian Ports Authority, Savannah Bank, Allied Bank, NICON, and as the General Manager (Lagos Zone) of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), where you meritoriously retired from public service in 2019.”
Sambo and Adegoroye were deployed as minister of transportation and minister of state respectively on July 6, 2022 during a minor cabinet reshuffle.
While Adegoroye is a new appointee into Buhari’s cabinet, Sambo was redeployed from the Ministry of Works and Housing, where he had been the minister of state since December 2021.
