ACReSAL records fast time in effectiveness – World Bank Specialist

Dr. Joy Iganya Agene, Senior Environment Specialist World Bank and task team leader, Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), said the project has recorded fast time in effectiveness.

She made the revelation at the ongoing ACReSAL technical work plan workshop holding in Lagos.
She noted that, in the world bank portfolio, ACReSAL is one of the projects that recorded fast time in effectiveness and also is one of the project that is gender tagged 100%, this is because of the design of the project, where the project will be working with female farmers and communities.

The workshop was at the instance of the World Bank and Nigeria government to ensure that all activities to be implemented under ACReSAL are linked to the project components.
According to Dr Joy the TTL, “the development of a realistic work plan is part of the requirements for project effectiveness.

Earlier in his remarks, the Acting National Project Coordinator, ACReSAL, Engr. Anda Ayuba Yalaks stated that the project was declared effective on the 9th of June 2022 and the project team is in Lagos for a technical work plan workshop which will be approved by the federal and state steering committees. Noting that ACReSAL project is a multi sectoral and multi institutional project with four components which is domiciled in three ministries of Environment, Agriculture and Water Resources.
He also noted that the project development objective of ACReSAL is to increase the implementation of sustainable landscapes management practices in targeted watersheds in northern Nigeria and strengthen Nigeria’s long-term enabling environment for integrated climate.

Also at the technical work plan workshop is Dr. Salisu Dahiru, ACRESAL project former National Project Coordinator (NPC) and the New DG National Climate Change Council.

He has been providing support and guidance to the team in the area of project management, communication amongst other issues to ensure successful project effectiveness and implementation.
