As the crises rocking the main opposition party rages, Chairman of Board of Trustee (BoT), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sen. Walid Jubrin on Tuesday maintained that the party is unfair to the South as most of the leadership positions are occupied by Northerners.
The BoT Chairman in a statement on Tuesday maintained that he has not changed his earlier position that the party cannot produce the Presidential Candidate, National Chairman and BoT Chairman at the same time while the south that has supported it since 1999 is left with nothing.
According to Walid, “Based on my earlier statement that PDP cannot produce in North president, National Chairman, BoT Chairman all from the North for 2023 presidential elections. I still maintain my stand on that statement. PDP is a democratic and national party that cater for all Nigerians, it’s not sectional but loved by all Nigerians.
“As a PDP BoT Chairman I must say the truth and nothing but the truth no matter anyone’s criticism. I don’t fear anyone but God and true agenda of our party. I will add that I stand strongly on my toes”.
The BoT Chairman stressed that he has been faithful to the party and rose through the ranks. He said he has been the BoT chairman for four years and six months and will not do anything the compromise the unity or cohesion in the party.
“I am a true member of PDP since its inception in 1998. Today l am one of the truest member of the party who remained in the party since 1998 that never changed to any party but remained only in PDP passing all positions in PDP
“PDP unit leader. PDP ward leader. PDP state leader. PDP zonal leader. PDP National Ex Officio member. PDP National deputy financial secretary. PDP National financial secretary. PDP BoT member. PDP BoT acting secretary. PDP BoT confirmed secretary. PDP acting Chairman and today BoT Chairman. I saw yesterday in PDP and today, kicking very well in PDP. Adding to this, I am also today member of PDP National caucus member, NEC member, member of National convention.
“As chairman of BoT I have a tenure of 5 years but already spent 4years six months having only six months left as per the constitution of our party PDP. Therefore, I will never accept any unholy cristism by any one. I will remain in PDP until my death”.
Sen. Walid said that his team is waiting for the report of the reconciliation committee that interfaced on the feud between governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and the party’s Presidential canidate, Atiku Abubakar to enable it take informed decision during its intervention.
“I still maintain that the BoT is eagerly waiting for the report of the Reconciliation committee headed by Governor of Adamawa state and professor Jerry Gana. Thereafter, the BoT will thoroughly discuss it and inform the public accordingly no more no less. The BoT will continue discussing with all other aggrieved members of the party including those in states, Zones and nationally”.
He advised members of the party to concentrate more on those thing that will make the PDP win the 2023 general election.
