The National Association of Traders (NAT), Oyo state chapter, Thursday, dissociated itself with one Alhaja Princess Azeezat Afolashade Abeo Nurudeen whom it accused of parading herself as the Iyaloja General of the Oyo state chapter of the market association.
In a press statement signed by Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje and made available to newsmen, the association asked Alhaja Nurudeen to desist from parading herself as such as there can only be one Iyaloja at a time.
While reaffirming that Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje is the recognized Iyaloja General in Oyo state, it warned traders and the general public to be wary of the activities Princess Nurudeen as it concerns the Iyaloja office.
The statement further stated that Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje was Otun Iyaloja during the tenure of the last Iyaloja General of Oyo state insisting that after her demise, the association whole heartedly approved her leadership of Iyaloja General.
It said that it has been two years since she became Iyaloja General alluding that she is fully recognized by both the government of Oyo state and the late Olubadan of Ibadanland wondering where Alhaja Nurudeen is coming from.
The statement reads in part:
‘’It has come to our knowledge that one Alhaja Princess Azeezat Afolashade Abeo Nurudeen has started parading herself as Iyaloja General of Oyo state. I was Otun Iyaloja during the tenure of the last Iyaloja General of Oyo state and after the demise of the Late Iyaloja, our Association, “National Association of Traders (NAT), Oyo state, heartily approved my leadership as Iyaloja General of Oyo state for about two years now, fully recognized by the Oyo State House of Assembly and the royal father, the Late Olubadan of Ibadanland and other royal fathers across the state.
‘’Let me state here that in the history of Yoruba land, it is always one Iyaloja General in a state. I am now using this opportunity to inform all the citizens of Oyo State and all our members to be careful with Alhaja Princess Azeezat Afolashade Abeo Nurudeen as far as this office and title is concerned. They should have nothing to do with her in this regard and any other person that may also parade herself as Iyaloja while Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje still holds way.
