Kano Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) has debunked allegations that it purchased campaign vehicles to promote the victory of a political party in the state.
Reacting to a Statement by a certain political party that KIRS used state fund to buy vehicles for electioneering campaign, the Head of Corporate Communications of the Board, Alhaji Rabiu Saleh Rimingado, said such allegation was a calculated attempt to smear the image of the Board.
Rimingado, in a Statement made available to journalists on Thursday, said KIRS will not hesitate to take legal action against the source of the “unfounded” allegation which he described as, “untrue and baseless.”
He regretted that some politicians have resorted to destroying the, “hard-earned reputation of the Board,” insisting that there was no time the management of the Board diverted state resources to sponsor political campaigns.
The Statement, however, reaffirmed the statutory responsibility of the Board which is collection of revenue for the development of the state, adding that KIRS has been carrying out its responsibility within the ambits of the law establishing it.
