The Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Federal Capital (FCT), Rev Timothy Amakom, has unveiled a 7-point agenda, prominent among which is to organize prayer and rural evangelism towards fulfilling the great commission of Jesus Christ.
Speaking at the inauguration of the newly elected executives in Abuja, the CAN Chairman, expressed the determination of his team to continue “to make CAN FCT a better place for us all to belong and worship God.”
He listed other agenda to include embarking “on building some of the developmental projects such as the CAN secretariat; embarking on sensitization workshops and seminars to boost the leadership capacity of CAN FCT, its wings and members at all levels; engaging in inter-bloc fellowship to help foster peace and unity among all churches just as our Lord Jesus Christ prayed that we may be one in the book of John 17 and aggressively pursue more pilgrimage slot to enable more of us visit the Holy site so as to have the spiritual feeling of God’s touch.”
Other agenda to be pursed vigorously by the new CAN executive, according to Rev. Amakom, include ensuring good and harmonious working relationship with government and other relevant agencies including International Organizations towards promoting peace, security and lives of every Christian and by extension Nigerians and seeking possible economy and empowerment avenues towards alleviating the sufferings and putting food on their tables of indigent, vulnerable and downtrodden residents of the FCT.
While soliciting for the support of all Christians in the FCT, the CAN Chairman said: “Let me also use this medium to solicit for your maximum cooperation from every member of CAN to ensure we succeed in this 7-point agenda tailored towards repositioning CAN FCT for a better projection of God’s work.
“Our doors will be widely open to receive constructive ideas and initiatives that will promote and improve the general well-being of every member under the umbrella of this great Association.”
He applauded the immediate past Chairman and the Secretary, Rev Jonah Samson and Bishop Mike Akpami, for what he described as “their unwavering support and efforts in the affairs of God that culminated in the quality leadership they demonstrated in FCT CAN during their tenure. May God bless you all IJN, Amen.”
The CAN chairman also gave kudos to his Personal Assistant, Prophetess Ibeneme Ebelechukwu, for being there and helping him succeed in his administration right from his bloc.
The occasion was highly attended by prominent clerics and church leaders in the FCT.
