Election Duties: Remain Firm And Committed, CP Mamman Dauda Charges Officers, Distributes Operational Guidlines

Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mamman Dauda has charged officers to be firm, steadfast and committed towards ensuring a free, fair, credible, transparent and successful general elections.

The police boss gave the charge, during a meeting with members of the Command’s Management Team (CMT) Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Tactical Commanders and Sectional Heads (TCSHs).

He also distributed Revised Standard Operational Guidelines/Rules (RSOGR), made for police officers and other law enforcement agents on Election Security Duties (ESD), produced by the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.

Copies of the Revised Standard Operational Guidelines/Rules were distributed to the supervising officers for onward distribution to all police officers in the state.

This followed a series of training received by the officers on Election Security Management (ESM).

The AUTHORITY reports that contents of the Revised Standard Operational Guidelines/Rules include: Mandate of the Nigeria Police Force in Securing the Electoral Process, General Guidelines, Standard Operational Guidelines, Duty Parade/Briefing and Debriefing Rules.

Others include: Dress and Accoutrement Rules, Procedures on Managing Political Rallies and Crowd Control, Rules of Use of Force, Rules of Escorting/Protecting Election Materials, Procedure of Arrest, Command and Control, among others.

CP Dauda appreciated officers for their efforts in crime fighting, and urged them to keep the good records glowing.

He charged the officers to continue with raids of criminal hideouts and black spots, sustain Operation Restore Peace (ORP), which has been yielding positive results, “be firm, steadfast in crime fighting and remain committed towards ensuring a peaceful Kano State,” he added.
