…Plans To Summon Bank Managers
From Maduabuchi Nmeribeh, Kano
Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has declared that the sufferings and pains inflicted on hapless Nigerians over the new Naira notes swap was an intentional, but vindictive orchestration of Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele, who became disgruntled over his failed ambition to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ganduje insisted that Emefiele is on a futile political vendetta.
He has concluded plans to summon bank managers in Kano, over their role in making both new and old Naira notes very scarce for Kano residents.
Ganduje has also planned to distribute palliatives across the 44 Local Government Areas in Kano, in his bid to ease the sufferings of the people.
He described Emefiele’s attitude as grossly unpatriotic, insisting that it was a failed fight-back strategy for failing to get presidential ticket under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ganduje spoke on Sunday, during electioneering campaign rally, held at Tsanyawa, where he presented gubernatorial and deputy gubernatorial candidates, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna and Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, alongside senatorial and other candidates to the people of the area.
“The CBN Governor is only doing this to cause confusion in the forthcoming elections for not just reason. He has not been in good mood for long, because he failed to secure Presidential ticket on the platform of our great party, the APC,” Ganduje said.
Ganduje added that, “Kano state government and APC in the state are totally against the action of the CBN Governor.
“Currency redesign is done across the globe, but not in the way we are witnessing in our country. The timing is wrong, the deadline given is very wrong and deliberate.”
He further stated that part of the measures taken to cushion the effects of the hardship caused by Naira swap development include, “plans to summon bank managers very soon to interrogate the shortage of new Naira notes in banks.
“They should come over and explain to us, why our people are still suffering over this issue of Naira Swap. And I will go to them individually to supervise what is happening and why.”
Governor Ganduje recalled that, “during COVID-19 pandemic, the state government distributed palliatives to citizens across all the 44 Local Government Areas.
“We have a plan in the pipeline to start distributing palliatives very soon across all the 44 local governments, to cushion the effect of the hardship caused by the CBN Governor, to our people.”
The APC Campaign train visited the palaces of the District Heads of Kunchi and Tsanyawa Local Government Areas, where Ganduje urged community leaders to create awareness within their jurisdiction to let people know that, “the hardship people are facing is singlehandedly caused by the CBN Governor, to purposely cause confusion in our democratic process.”
