IGP meets bank managers over delay in election allowance for officers

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba,  has met with the managements of defaulting banks, who were responsible for the delay in payment of 2023 election duty allowances to Police personnel.

This is in an effort to address the challenges that caused the delay and prevent further recurrence.

The Police management, according a statement by the Force Spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, had since begun payment of allowance for officers who will be involve in the governorship election on Saturday, March 11.

The statement quoted the Police Accountant and Budgets Department, as clarifying that the banks have been credited as schedules of payment have been dropped with the banks even before the February 25 elections.

“So, we urge the affected officers to remain calm as every penny accrued to them will be paid.

“Even the commencement for the payment of the second tranche for the guber elections will be paid as from today Tuesday 7th February 2023,” the statement noted.
