By Nkem Chidi

The emergence of the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr Peter Obi, and his performance at the 2023 General election, has proven that Nigerians are prepared to chart a new course that portends that a New Nigeria is possible. Speaking to a cross section of reporters while reviewing the governorship and State Assembly elections sheduled for Saturday this week, the Labour Party gubernatorial frontrunner in Imo State believes that Peter Obi ticks all the boxes satisfactorily in every area of public life. He also meets the minimum acceptable standard of behaviour, hence the huge followership he was able to amass during his presidential campaign journey.

Sir, Basil Maduka, an international business mogul and managing director of Virgin Group, an international integrated oil and gas services company believes that the last has not been heard about the Presidential election which his party has to challenged the outcome at the tribunal and the courts.

Maduka, a Knight of the Anglican Communion, describes Obi as his role model, stressing that his emergence into the presidential election has opened a new chapter in Nigeria as it has also unified Nigerians further. “If you see what happened during the election and what is happening since INEC declared Tinubu, the president – elect, you will understand that the youths of this country are now ready to take back their country because they voted as if their whole life depended on that election”.

On the governorship and House Assembly election taking place on Saturday, Maduka urged Imolites to troop out in their thousands to cast their votes for all Labour Candidates for the State Assembly election.

He maintained that a victory for Labour Party is the only way the general public would agree that the overwhelming support Peter Obi and the Labour Party got at the presidential election two weeks ago is no fluke.

Maduka further stated that he is looking forward to working with an Imo State House of Assembly that is controlled by Labour Party majority when he is elected the governor of the State in November.
