GPMI implores Nigerians to support Tinubu

… Calls on NLC to suspend planned strike

An international anti-corruption crusade, Global Peace Movement International, UK has called on the Government of President Bola Tinubu to as a matter of urgency put measures in place to cushion the effect of subsidy removal on Nigerians.

President General, Dr. Mike Uyi , in a press release on Sunday advised the government to ensure that monies saved from the removal of fuel subsidy were judiciously used.

“It should be put into meaningful investments that would better the lives of all Nigerians.

“The expectation of Nigerians were high in tandem with the renewed hope principle and focused policy of the administration”.

According to the statement, the removal of the fuel subsidy was long overdue and welcome the development for the good of Nigerians.

Uyi also urged the government to do the needful by putting necessary palliative policy measures and logistics to soften the hardship that might accompany the new paradigm shift among the citizens.

“My advice to Nigerians is for them to have faith and be expectant of improved quality of life and grow their love for our fatherland and expect better days ahead after the initial challenges,” Wilson said.

“As Nigerians, we all have to put hands together and work towards the success of this country. Tinubu and the government alone cannot do it, we all have to contribute to move the country forward,’’ Uyi said.

On the planed industrial action, Uyi appealed to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) not to embark on its proposed nationwide strike on fuel subsidy removal slated for Wednesday, saying President Bola Tinubu means well for the country’s economy.

Uyi who implored labour leaders to exercise patience on its proposed planned strike, urged the Labour leaders not to be political over the issue of the removal of fuel subsidy.

He said the subsidy removal is in the interest of all Nigerians, urging them to support President Bola Tinubu to run the affairs of the country creditably.

He urged the labour leaders to join hands with the present administration at the federal level and be patient with the President in his commitment to turn the economy around and make Nigeria a better place for all.

“We need to be very patient. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is just a week old in office. So let us talk to ourselves and say that we shouldn’t turn it political. Let us wait and support this man. He has done a week on the job. Let him go and reflect and at the sub-national level, we are willing to support him”.

Uyi further stressed that no industrial strike will solve anything at this point. According to him, it will certainly not bring an end to the issue. He said the point will be how to ensure that there is a turnaround in our economy as he has mentioned something about a better wage.
