The president Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN), Dr Victoria Okoronkwo said the body didn’t conduct any election, it current executives are still in charge.
Briefing journalists in Abuja on Thursday, she said the institute was worried by activities of one Jamilu Yankwashi, who parades himself as new leader of the institute.
She said Yankwashi was an erstwhile Vice President North but suddenly conspired with some disgruntled members to snatch the Institute’s Board Chairmanship.
Mrs Okoronkwo explained that the Institute was working to deepen its recognition by government and private sector players, saying some of its members were piloting to destabilise it for their selfish agenda.
Troubled ensued in Abuja, when some of the members of the Institute, led by Jamilu Yankwashi organised an election which has been confirmed to be illegal, and enthroned himself as President and Chairman, Governing Council of the Institute.
After the purported election, the substantive President and Chairman of the governing council of the Institute, Dr. Victoria Okoronkwo said Yankwashi and his cohorts were contemptuous of a court judgement.
While Yankwashi said the election was a consensus of members of the Institute, Okoronkwo insisted that the election was null and void, noting that less than 30 members cannot override the decision of the court and that of over 500 members of the Institute.
She further revealed that she had already appealed the court judgement and obtained a Stay of Execution.
Okoronkwo also revealed that while the court judgement directed that the parties should maintain status quo, results of the purported elections remain invalid.
“I am still the President and Chairman governing council of the Institute, whatever they have done is null and void “, Okoronkwo insisted.
