The Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher has called on the youths to focus on selfless services that will benefit their communities and the society.
He stated this during the inauguration of an 11- man executive council of of the 10th Youth Progressive Forum at the weekend.
Maikalangu called on members of the executive to be open to advice in order to achieve the objectives of the forum.
He pledged his contribution to the success of ventures will attract better opportunities for development of the youths and Abuja Municipal Area Council.
“I commended the out gone EXCO, and also welcome the new ones. God has chosen to use the newly inaugurated forum members to lift this forum. I plead with everyone here, let’s key in and help the forum to succeed. No one was born with full knowledge. Nobody knows it all, that’s why I always tell people to also advise me, even as AMAC chairman.
“So, if you have any advice that will take the forum forward, please come forward with it and make your contributions. I can also use my position as AMAC Chairman to attract opportunities to the forum. It must not only be AMAC, AMAC all the time.
“Also, I plead with everyone here, let’s see what we can do to provide the new Chairman with a new vehicle to help him function well in office. Lastly, we pray God to give us the knowledge to succeed in all we do.”
On his part, the chairman Board of Trustees (BoT) Mr Danjuma Samuel, advised the new Exco members to be accountable and not be found wanting like the previous Exco.
He said: “YPF has been in existence in the last 16 years and I am proud to be associated with the forum. A lot has transpired in the last few years and I am glad to witness another inauguration of new Exco members. It has not been an easy ride, but we have surmounted a lot of challenges. The forum is now registered with the CAC and poised to do businesses.
“As new Exco members, rest assured that you will have a lot of challenges. Instead of the Forum dying down, I expect you to do your best to sustain it. I want to charge the Exco members to work hand in hand to achieve your objectives, instead of working at cross purposes. The Chairman should carry everyone along at all times. Don’t sideline anyone.
“Keep proper account of all the money coming in, don’t be found wanting, especially when auditors come calling to audit the account. Do better than the former Exco members, who were found wanting. The former Chairman and Exco members will be summoned to give account of what transpired during their time. They won’t be members of the forum until they come and clear themselves.”
In his acceptance speech, after the oath of office, the newly inaugurated Chairman of YPF, Adamu Dan Damihir, said that the election of the Exco members is as a result of the trust in them, hence they will do everything possible to achieve the objectives of the forum.
“This is a call to duty. We were found worthy, that is why we were elected into office. Of course, we know the challenges facing the forum, therefore we will work together to meet the aims and aspirations of this great forum. Also, I want to advise my Exco members that everyone must function in his office. It is not going to be business as usual,” he said.
