Civil Society Groups laud Audi as NSCDC graduates two hundred and eight officers

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has been commended for displaying “outstanding leadership”.

No fewer than 35 civil society groups came together to applaud the Commandant General for a harmonious and seamless running of the NSCDC in the last two years.

Under the aegis of STAND UP NIGERIA (SUN), the coalition said they have been particularly impressed with how NSCDC has improved and display their constitutional duties inline with international best practice.

In a statement signed by Comrade Sunday Attah, the 35 groups said Ahmed Abubakar Audi has reposition the corps and working hard to take the organisation to the next level in quality delivery of service to Nigerians as it relates to security of life and property.

According to Attah, Audi has gaven priority to capacity building of personnel in the service believing that personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps can only meet best international practice by improving in terms of training and retraining.

He further said it was this believe that made Audi to focus on capacity building and career progression of staff, to which a ministerial committee on curriculum development was inaugurated to develop standard curriculum for career progression/development courses in all civil defence training schools.

Attah emphasized that the masterstroke of Audi’s achievement as the Commandant General of the corps is the commissioning of the Çivil Defence command and staff college, Jos, by former president , ably represented by the former head of state, Gen Yakubu Gowon and the executive governor of plateau state, Barr Samuel Lalong.
Another training school in Nasarawa state is expected to commence operation soon.

Describing Audi as a servant leader, Attah noted that just recently, the corps under Audi graduated Two Hundred and Eighty (280) who were drawn from all the thirty six (36) states commands including the Federal capital territory (FCT) comprising One Hundred and Four female officers and One Hundred and Seventy Six male participants.

“The achievement clearly shows that the commandant General has equipped men and officers of the NSCDC with requisite knowledge that will add to their professional disposition and value to the corps and the country in its entirety”.

“It is a known fact today that the peace and conflict resolution unit of the corps has been playing critical roles by making tremendous efforts to resolve thousands of disputes between farmers and herders across the country to avert what could have snowballed into violent confrontations through the instrument of alternative dispute resolution (adr)”.

“We salute Audi’s transparent leadership style as Nigerians are happy and comfortable with his as the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. We assure him of our total support”.
