There are strong indications that the odd Favours Hon. TOE Ekechi, Dr. Patrick Ekeji and Hon Jerry Chukwukere to be picked as the Director-General to Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressive Congress APC in their November 11, 2023 governorship election.
Although one of the Governor’s political aides told The AUTHORITY that the governor had already made up his mind on who will lead his campaigns this time around.
The source said that the governor will pick his Director-General from the Owerri Senatorial Zone as the political pendulum tilt towards Dr TOE Ekechi, Chief Jerry Chukwueke and Chief Patrick Ekeji who are from Ngor Okpuala, Owerri-North and Aboh-Mbaise Local Government Areas respectively.
Political pundits are of the view that the governor will rest on Owerri Senatorial Zone as the zone is favoured to succeed him based on the newly-endorsed Imo Charter of Equity.
It was also said that since Uzodimma is from Orlu Zone, there was no need picking his DG from that same Zone, as it seems his approval for a second term bid by his people is a self accomplished matter.
On Okigwe, it was agreed that the Zone had already benefitted immensely in the Uzodimma’s first term, as they would queue into the project to continue to enjoy.
