Gov. Alia inaugurates Benue State chapter of NWNN

Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia has inaugurated the Benue State Chapter of NO WOMAN NO NATION – an NGO under the Renewed Hope initiatives for the betterment of all Nigerians.

Speaking on Friday, during the event at New Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi, Governor Alia expressed gratitude to the women for coming together to advance the cause of women and lend support to the humanitarian project of the present administration.

“The government of Benue State under my leadership is willing to support individuals and groups that have good ideas to take Benue people and the state higher in terms of peace and economic growth”, the governor said.

The organization which is committed to advancing gender equality, is also for empowering women across states and supporting the widows.

While thanking the organization for making him the Grand Patron of No Woman No Nation, Governor Alia congratulated the new Benue State Executive and all the local government coordinators, assuring them of his goodwill and support.

According to the Governor, “Benue State must continue to work against any policies, practices, and customs that inflict harm or violence on women”.

He thanked the wife of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu for ensuring that women in Benue and indeed across the nation are empowered.

The national chairman, No Woman No Nation, Akintola Oluwasayo who also represented the Wife of the President, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu underscored the importance of the organization and thanked Governor Alia for the proactive steps he has taken to ensure the development of Benue State.

Also in their separate remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Isaac Tiza Imojime, the Chairlady, Lami Danladi, the wife of the Deputy Governor, Christie Ode, and the National Director, Welfare and Planning of the organization, Hon. Joyce Luga all pledged their commitment to the welfare of women, particularly the less fortunate ones.

Other dignitaries at the event include the Tor Tiv V, HRM Prof. James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, represented by Tor Kwande, HRH Ambrose Iortyer and other top government officials.
