The Executive Vice chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr Aminu Maida has promised to continue to hold licensees accountable to deliver acceptable services to consumers.
He made this known during an interactive session with journalists in Abuja, yesterday.
Maida said telecom operators must ensure that consumers get the required services especially in area of data.
He explained that the commission would leverage on technology to grow telecoms industry, enable backbone to support the government digital public infrastructure drive and bridge the rural urban digital divide.
He urged the state governments to review the issue of right of way which will help to reduce the taxes and encourage investors.
Maida said the initiative will not discourage foreign investors but encourage them to invest more in the sector.
He said, “the initiative will encourage foreign investors, state should consider the issue of right of way to reduce the changes and not to scare foreign investors.
“It will grow telecoms industry, enable backbone to support the government digital public infrastructure drive and bridge the rural urban digital divide.
“There will be full usage of data, we will hold our licensees accountable to deliver, we will leverage on technology to drive our sector as a regulator, we will improve industry resilience, enhanced delivery of regulator services and enable cross-industry innovation.
“The initiative will encourage foreign investors, state should consider the issue of right of way, to reduce the changes and not to scare foreign investors”
He urged the media to be fair in presenting the activities of the commission to the public, saying the media remain the eye of the public people.
