From Emmanuel Onwusoro, Ado-Ekiti

The new Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Mr Akinwale  Kunle Adeniran, has advocated trans-border cooperation for the battle against crimes and criminality in the country, promising that community-based policing and technology-driven security will be utilized in the state to tackle what he described as the monsters.

The CP made the suggestion at a meeting with journalists in Ado-Ekiti, to herald his assumption of duty.

He said to achieve the desired results, he will assess the security architecture of the state and bring his wealth of experience to bear on his fight against kidnapping, murder, robbery and other criminalities in the state.

He added that a multifaceted approach that will stand the test of time is fundamental, hence, the cooperation of every stakeholder of which the media cannot be glossed over.

The police chief  pledged that every stakeholder will be carried on board, while unmanned places in the various communities will be professionally covered with the incorporation of vigilante groups into the security architecture. In the same vein, the police will work with allied security agencies  in the state, while members of the Police Community Relations Committee, (PCRC), will equally be included in the process.

According to the Ekiti police helmsman, to achieve the set goals, the support of the residents of the state is necessary in a bid to restore and ensure sustained peace.

He also said constant meetings among the diverse stakeholders will be encouraged.

Mr Adeniran further remarked that proliferation of light arms and small weapons in the state in the hands of devil-minded people will be recovered by all means.

“Any group with illegal possession of weapons is advised to surrender them to appropriate authorities or they should be made to face the wrath of the law,” he said.
