- New applicants for meter paying N20,000
A civil society organization, FCT Peoples Advocacy Group has called on President Bola Tinubu to immediately terminate the license of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC.
The Group in a press release on Thursday said AEDC has become a disgrace to the seat of power, while working against the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration.
The press release signed by the Convener of the Group, Bako Magaji said AEDC is making the FCT look like a village.
The Group said AEDC has shown that it is incapable of delivering on the power requirements of people in the community.
According to the Group “How do top government officials feel when diplomats and international businesses come in here and face the epileptic power supply in the FCT. We are inviting outsiders to come and invest in our country.
“Their first place of call is the FCT where they have to face a highly inefficient and disgraceful AEDC.
“It is a shame that several areas of the FCT go several days without power, meanwhile, new applicants for meter are being forced to pay N20,000 for application form.
“We therefore appeal to Mr. President, enough is enough. AEDC is a minus to your Renewed Hope Agenda. Their conduct in the FCT has become a disgrace to Nigeria.
“Mr. President, if not for anything, it is high time you wade into the disfunctional actions of AEDC. We cannot be attracting investors into darkness.
