Kogi: Group protests in London over alleged injustice under ex Gov Bello’s administration

Concerned Citizens of Kogi State living in the United Kingdom held a peaceful protest on Monday 20th May, 2024 at the Nigerian High Commission in London.

According to a statement made available to news men in Abuja by the Convener, Mr. Cyril Akubo and General Secretary,
Barr Samuel Promise, the protest was in respect of the “obvious injustice suffered by the citizens of Kogi state in the last administration under former Governor Yahaya Bello’s government.”

The statement indicated that they also submitted a written petition signed by members of the group addressed to the Nigeria Leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It reads, “It is a march in support of the effort of anti-graft agency against all the alleged corrupt practices at the highest level of governance perpetrated against Kogi state and her good citizens by the immediate past governor of the state.

“In the same vein, another copy of the petition was submitted to the British parliament and government calling on them to add their voice against the injustices, human right violations and corrupt charges against the immediate past governor and his cronies.

“We hereby call on the British authorities, Federal Government of Nigeria and the International communities to come to the aid of our people by arresting, trying and prosecuting the past governor with the aim of recovering all our alleged stolen funds and prosecuting all parties found guilty in the alleged corruption and human rights violations.”
