IVF: Alliance Hospital welcomes triplets

By Hassan Zaggi

Following the introduction of In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) process at Alliance Hospital, the management on Friday celebrates the birth of triplets in the hospital.

The IVF state-of-the-art centre was commissioned at the Alliance Hospital a little over a year ago.

Speaking while celebrating the breakthrough, the Principal Medical Director of Alliance Hospital, Dr. Christopher Otabor, said: “We are delighted to announce a success rate of 70% in our IVF procedures, a notable accomplishment given that international success rates typically range from 35% to 40%.”

Dr. Otabor attributed the success recorded in the IVF process to the hospital’s investment in cutting-edge technology, committed and hardworking personnel.

He reiterated that the hospital is committed to excellence and quality healthcare delivery.

Dr. Otabor, therefore, presented the parents of the triplets with gifts including walkers and scholarship for the three children.

According to him, each child will receive ₦100,000 annually for primary and secondary education, and ₦300,000 annually for university education.

“While we may not sponsor their education at prestigious institutions like Harvard, this financial assistance will significantly alleviate their educational costs,”Otabor said.

On his part, the guest of honor, Ahmed Isah, commended Alliance Hospital for the initiative, stressing that many families in Nigeria and beyond will benefit from the technology.

Represented by his Personal Assistant, Barr. Pamella Pius, he said: “This development will bring happiness to numerous households that have grappled with infertility for years.

“Today, we celebrate these three babies born through IVF process at Alliance Hospital. It is a moment of jubilation for us at Human Rights Radio and Television to witness not just one, but three babies born into the world simultaneously.

“I can envision the joy in this household that has been childless for the past decade and now welcomes three children. That is a triple blessing.”

Speaking, the Head of the IVF Center, Dr. Mike Enokela,  who was visibly elated at the achievement, emphasized the increasing demand for IVF services due to escalating infertility rates.

He, however, disclosed that the center has attracted clients from both Nigeria and beyond.

“Our success rates are impressive, and we have aided numerous women from developed nations in conceiving when other centers were unsuccessful,” Dr. Enokela said.

Dr. Enokela commended the hospital’s Principal Medical Director for providing a conducive environment which, according to him, is vital for such accomplishments.

“We are simply instruments in the hands of the creator, scripting tales of joy and contentment for countless families,” he noted.

Meanwhile, the father of the triplets, Mr. Greg Osakwe, expressed gratitude to God for the precious gifts. He recalled about their challenging journey to finding a solution to their infertility.

“Today, we rejoice that the Almighty has blessed us and wiped away our tears,” he said.

The Alliance Hospital IVF center also offers advanced services such as pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) for couples at risk of genetic disorders, ensuring healthy pregnancies and fulfilling the aspirations of many families.
