Computeriized vehicle inspection centre will enhance safety, create jobs, says Enugu Commissioner

The Enugu State Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Obi Ozor, has assured that the establishment of a computerized vehicle inspection centre in Enugu State is to put vehicles plying on the roads in good condition, ,thereby reducing the rate of motor accident-prone deaths in the state.

Dr. Obi Ozor made this known at the commissioning of the first computerized vehicle inspection centre  established in Enugu State, located at Entraco Terminal along Enugu to Abakaliki Road, Emene.

According to him, the coming of a computerized vehicle inspection centre is in line with the laws of the country, which provide that every commercial vehicle must undergo certification at least twice a year and at least once for private vehicles. 

He disclosed that the computerized vehicle inspection centres which will also be established at the Holy Ghost axis of the meropolis, 9th mile corner, and Nsukka, will  be another avenue for creating jobs for the unemployed in the state.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Peter Mbah for the laudable venture and support that enhanced the establishment of the centre.

In his own speech, the Managing Director of the partnering company, Temple Group Limited, Mr. Segun Obayendo, explained that the computerized centre has facilities to detect stolen vehicles, the various faults in a vehicle, expired and worn-out tyres, the intensity of the light systems, among others, so as to avoid dangering the lives of the driver and the commuters, or those of his family, as the case may be.

He disclosed that the centre has equipment to test up to 210 cars on a daily basis.

The Enugu state Chief Vehicle Inspection Officer, Engr. Valentine Chime, advised every Nigerian living in Enugu state to use the opportunity of the Enugu state computerized vehicle inspection centre to know the conditions of their vehicles and go for maintenance or park them off the road.
