Computeriized Vehicle Inspection Centre will enhance safety, create jobs, says Enugu Transport Commissioner

The Enugu State Commissioner of Transport, Dr.Obi Ozor, has stated that the establishment of computerized Vehicle Inspection Centre in Enugu state is to put vehicles plying on the roads in good condition, thereby reducing the rate of motor accidents in  the state.

Dr. Ozor made the statement during the commissioning of the first of such inspection centre in the state.

The center is located at the Entraco Bus Terminal along Enugu-Abakaliki road, Emene.

According to him, the coming of computerized vehicle inspection centre is in line  with the laws of the country which provides that every commercial vehicle must undergo certification at least  twice in a year and at least once for private vehicles.

He  disclosed that the vehicle inspection centres will also be established at the Holy Ghost axis of the meropolis, 9th Mile Corner and Nsukka and wiuld serve as another avenue of creating jobs for the unemployed in the state.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Peter Mbah for the laudable venture and support which enhanced the establishment of the centre.

Speaking, the Managing-Director of the partnering company, Temple Group Limited, Mr. Segun Obayendo, explained that the computerized centre have facilities to detect stolen vehicles, the various faults in a vehicle, expired and worn out tyres, intensity of the lighting systems, etc  to avoid endangering the lives of the driver or the commuters as the case may be.

He disclosed that the centre has equipment to test run up to 210 cars on daily basis.

The Enugu State Chief Vehicle Inspection Officer, Engr. Valentine Chime, advised residents of Enugu state to use the opportunity of the centre to know the conditions of their vehicle and go for maintenance or keep them off the road.
