The Igbo community in Portugal were excited at the sight of the ‘Marian Apparitions Ground’ in Fatima when they visited it in Portugal.
They expressed delight at the good experiences of its members who visited the “Marian apparitions ground,” where Blessed Virgin Mary first appeared to three shepherd children, Lúcia dos Santos, Francisco Marto, and Jacinta Marto, at the Cova da Iria, outside the village of Aljustrel, near Fatima, Portugal.
Expressing how delighted they were, chairman of the group, Prince Johnson, said although the parish was founded in 1568, when it was annexed by the Collegiate of Ouré (Portuguese: Colegiada de Ourém), for centuries, most of the villagers kept herds of sheep and depended on subsistence farming.
“Since the 18th century, Fátima has been associated with events related to Marian apparitions,” the chairman said.
While narrating their experiences, the chairman expressed special regards to the entire Igbo community and executives living in Portugal.
Other members of the executives of Igbo community Portugal, includes Chinedu Obi, Vice chairman, Dr. Uzoma P. Nwokorie , Secretary, Mr. Victor Onuegbulam, Treasurer, Mr. Tochukwu Udemezuo, Financial Secretary, Mr. Ebuka Nwogbo, Provost and Hon. Engr.
