Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation(HCSF), has charged civil servants to engage in physical exercise to keep fit to ensure improved performance and productivity in the Service.
Yemi-Esan stated this on Saturday at the National Stadium, Abuja, during the sporting activities and competition organised for civil servants to mark 2024 Civil Service Week.
She advised them to take physical exercise seriously to them to remain healthy, adding that “If we are not healthy, we cannot give our best for the Service.”
According to her, “Engaging in physical exercise is as important as feeding our stomachs and our minds. We must not neglect physical exercise.
“For us to be productive and give our best of service, our bodies must be healthy. We must make it a routine to exercise regularly.”
The Head of the Civil Service, therefore, reminded them about the establishment of Empoyee Wellness Centre, urging them to make good use of the Centre to keep fit and healthy.
It would be recalled that Employee Wellness Centre was established by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service, dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of the civil servants.

The Employee Wellness Centre, located at the ground floor of the Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase II, Block E, provides a range of services, including health education talks and counseling, all aimed at promoting a healthier and more balanced workforce.”
She therefore, urged civil servants to actively engage in healthy lifestyles, adding that “In doing so, we align ourselves with the principles of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP25), taking a proactive stance towards the health and wellness of our workforce.
In his remarks, Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, commended the HCSF for her remarkable achievements and sustenance of sporting activities by civil servants.
Enoh revealed that his Ministry would soon inaugurate a day for National Day for Celebration of Sports and Fitness.
He underscored the need for Nigerians to engage in physical exercise to keep fit, in view of the sedentary lifestyles of most Nigerians.
Dr. Comfort Adeosun, Director,Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation(OHCSF), urged participants at the sporting activities to exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship and fairness.
