Group drags NPA boss, fingers formation in Presidency of protection

By Jane Okeke

A group within the governing All Progressives Congress, called APC Young Leaders Forum (APC-YLF) has alleged that a faceless formation in the presidency is shielding the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority, Muhammed Bello Koko over his shortcomings at the Authority.

The group in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Usman Aminu, alleged that despite series of allegations levelled on the NPA MD, he has continued to enjoy a cover up by authorities within the presidency, insisting that it is unacceptable.

The aggrieved APC youth group described Koko as one whose symbiotic favour is attached to a former Minister of Transport, alleging that the financial discrepancies within NPA has dwarfed the economy, causing critical stakeholders in the sector to raise eyebrows, while deterring foreign direct investors from having confidence in the country.

The group therefore called on President Bola Tinubu to relief Koko of his duty at the port.

Citing some media publications to support it’s claim, the group mentioned publications ran on October 3, 2021, where leaked documents by International consortium of investigative journalists involving world politicians, Business leaders and heads of sensitive agencies across different countries of the world were revealed including Premium Times of October 6, 2021 that detailed analysis on offshore companies.

APC-YLF also mentioned another publication by Sahara Reporters of November 27, 2022, stating that EFCC established a case of malfeasance against Bello Koko.

“Following levity on the side of the Nigerian government to hold Bello Koko accountable, we, the youth wing of the ruling party in Nigeria, APC urges President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take action to avoid a continuous collapse of the ailing economy.

“We further advise Mr. Presidency to take proactive measures against those that are bent in running his administration down,” stated APC-YLF.
