As insecurity persists in some parts of Benue State, the Governor, Hyacinth Alia, was at the Presidential Villa on Friday to consult with President Bola Tinubu.
The meeting between the two leaders held behind closed doors, and the Governor who was asked by State House correspondents to divulge details declined.
Indications were however rife that the parley may not be unconnected with recent issues concerning insecurity in the ‘food basket state’.
Last Wednesday, one of the Local Government Areas (LGAs) – Ukum experienced a series of violent attacks and unrest with armed bandits killing no fewer than 11 persons.
This followed an earlier attack on Monday when three persons from the Agagbe Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp were killed while returning from their farm.
Some youths in Ukum local government council consequently staged a violent protest on July 3, blocking roads and attacking the council secretariat over perceived government failure to prevent the attacks.
Governor Alia has since declared a 24-hour curfew in the entire local government.
