Hunger Protest: Revert to old pump price, electricity tariff – Group

By Pwanagba Agabus, Jos

The Initiative for Better and Brighter Nigeria, IBBN has said the only way to stop the ongoing protest and hunger in the country is for President Bola Tinubu to revert to the subsidy regime and return to the old electricity tariff.

The group also said while Nigerians are groaning in hunger and pains, the leaders are leaving in affluence at the detriment of its citizens.

This was disclosed by the Convener of the group, Prophet Isa El-Buba, while addressing protesters during a peaceful protest in Jos the Plateau State Capital on Thursday.

He said, “Every Nigerian that is going through pain will know that this is a fight for us to make sure that we get the right governance for our nation.

“And so, non of us is going to retreat; we all have a responsibility to make sure that the voice of the people is the voice of God; and so if the people speak, it is God that is speaking.

“And what is God saying, we must end bad governance in Nigeria”, he maintained.

“When the right institutions are in place, there will no more be hunger in the land, the killing will also stop.

“For the next ten days, we are going to push on, until we get what is meant for Nigerians”, he said.

Also speaking, a former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, said, “That every onlooker is either a coward or a traitor; we are not cowards and we are not traitors; Nigerians deserve a better deal.

He recalled with nostalgia, how they enjoyed the privilege of attending better schools, and we’re fed well with delicious meals.

“Today, we are alive and at sixty and over, we cannot fold our arms and pretend, that if we have not been able to all these years, build a better country, that a better nation is not possible.

“I’m here today to stand in solidarity with the people of Nigeria, that we need a better country”, he admonished.
