Kogi govt to partner with Police Trust Fund to develop barracks, enhance logistics

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has announced a new partnership between the state government and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund to tackle accommodation and logistical challenges faced by the officers and men of the Kogi State Police Command.

Governor Ododo made this announcement during a courtesy visit by the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Alhaji Mohammad Sheidu, at the Government House in Lokoja.

In a statement released on Friday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, Governor Ododo emphasized the state’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property within Kogi State.

Governor Ododo highlighted the need for improved accommodation through the development of police barracks and stations, as well as enhanced logistical support, including vehicles and other necessary facilities, to boost the welfare and operational capabilities of the police force in the state.

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing young, resourceful Nigerians to strategic positions, such as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund. Governor Ododo pledged continued support for the administration and urged Alhaji Sheidu to utilize his position to reform the Trust Fund effectively. He also assured Alhaji Sheidu of his unwavering support in their mutual goal to uplift Kogi State and Nigeria.

In his response, Alhaji Sheidu praised Governor Ododo for his impactful policies and programs, which he noted have significantly improved the lives of Kogi State residents.

He committed to fostering collaboration between the state government and the Police Trust Fund to enhance the welfare and effectiveness of police personnel, ensuring peace and security in Kogi State and beyond.

It is noteworthy that in July, the Kogi State government commissioned a new office complex for the Police Quick Response Unit in Lokoja, aimed at boosting the operational efficiency of the state police command.
