A non-governmental organization, Ayudantes Empowerment Initiative on Monday said the Armed forces of Nigeria has disappointed those who planned to use the nationwide protests to further deepen security challenges in the country.
The organization stated this during a press conference in Abuja.
Executive Director of the organization, Amechi Chuks Oyema, said by flying the flag of a foreign nation during the protests, it has shown that the enemies of the state have another motive.
It commended the Armed forces for the professional conduct which has received kudos for exemplary conduct and upholding rights of the citizens even when faced with provocation.
“At a time our security agencies, especially the Armed forces of Nigeria are engaged in military operations in different parts of the country, this evil people are more interested in deepening the challenges.
“We want to sincerely commend the Armed forces of Nigeria under the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Chris Musa for the way the military has handled the crisis.
“The professional conduct of men of the Armed forces is commendable. The AFN disappointed those who had other ulterior motives for our country.
“In the extreme, some even wanted the military to intervene in governance. Severally, the Chief of Defence Staff has made it known that the military will continue to be loyal to the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to the shame of the naysayers.
“For the military, miscreants would have caused more damages in some parts of the country. Nigeria must not be pushed to precipice because of the evil desires of a few who are uncomfortable any time they are out of power.
“Ayudantes Empowerment Initiative commend the Armed forces of Nigeria for being up to the task of quelling whatever was intended for evil for our country.
“Across the country, the AFN has received kudos for their exemplary conduct and upholding rights of the citizens even faced with provocation.
“For example, the military received commendation from the management of Barakat stores for intercepting and recovering goods stolen on Thursday during the end bad governance protest in Kano.
“We join faith with well meaning Nigerians to not only call for restraint but urge all to accept the address of Mr. President.”
