Uzodinma, Ohakim set for South East Media Summit August 14

The first ever Media Summit in South Eastern Nigeria to provide a veritable ground for the cross pollination of ideas as they affect the journalism profession vis-à-vis democratic governance in the zone, has been scheduled to hold in Owerri, the Imo State capital on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.

The Summit is organized by the leading newspaper brand in the South East, the Nigerian Horn Group of Newspapers in collaboration with South East Media Practitioners.

The event with the theme, “The Media, Ethical Responsibility and Democracy: South East in Perspective,” aims to also proffer ways the Journalism profession can thrive without let or hindrance from government institutions while discharging its social responsibility obligations to the society.

According to a release endorsed by the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Chief Kennedy Eweama, Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma is the Special Guest of Honour, while a former Governor of Imo State, Dr Ikedi Ohakim will be the Keynote Speaker at the Summit. Ohakim would lecture on the topic, “Ndigbo and Media Digitalization in the 21st century Nigeria : The Way Forward,”

The occasion will be chaired by a notable entrepreneur in the Oil and Gas industry, and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ailes Group, Dr Michael Onuoha (Eriri Ego), while Rockview Hotel, Owerri, serves as the venue for the historic event.
