Anambra Elders and public servants have mourned Distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Ubah who died recently in London.
The elders and public officers under the aegis of Anambra State Public Officers and Elders Forum (ASPOF) in an obituary statement described Late Ubah as a vibrant Senator who impacted many people especially the youths.
They also recalled the contributions the late politician made in providing security in Nnewi, Anambra state.
According to the statement signed by Chief (Dr.) Simon N. Okeke, Chairman, and Chief (Barr.) Ralph Oraeluno,
Secretary for and behalf of ASPOF, Ifeanyi Ubah was a visionary leader.
The full statement reads:
“It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that we, the leadership and members of the Anambra State Public Officers and Elders Forum (ASPOF) Abuja, extend our deepest condolences to our people of Anambra State and, most especially, to the constituents of the Anambra South Senatorial Zone on the untimely and painful demise of our own most vibrant and Distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Ubah (Ebubechukwuzor).
“Distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Ubah was more than just an elected public servant; he was a pillar of support, beacon of hope, and an embodiment of resilience and dedication to the teeming youths of Igbo land. His notable contributions in the security architecture of his town Nnewi and its environs against the scourge of armed bandits, as well as continuous youth and sports empowerment initiatives, as a vehicle for positive change in Anambra State and Nigeria at large was a testament to his visionary leadership and selfless service which will be cherished for generations to come.
“For ASPOF in particular, it saddens us greatly to reflect on the fact that what may be termed as Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s last official outing amongst the people he represented here in Abuja was at the recent ASPOF meeting, which he graciously offered to host on the 11th of July, 2024. That meeting, which brought together key stakeholders and leaders from across the state, stands as a poignant reminder of his dedication to fostering dialogue, collaboration, and progress within our community. Surely his presence, his insights, and his unwavering commitment to the betterment of Anambra State will be sorely missed.
“In this time of grief, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to his immediate family, friends, colleagues, and all those who were touched by his vision, kindness and generosity. We pray that they find solace in the memories of his remarkable life and the lasting impact of his work which paved the way for many and contributed to the building of a more prosperous Anambra State.
“May the soul of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah rest in perfect peace, and may we all find strength in the legacy he leaves behind.”
The statement was signed by Chief (Dr.) Simon N. Okeke, (Ochendo), OFR, FNIVS, FRICS, LLD (Honoris Causa), Chairman, and Chief (Barr.) Ralph Oraeluno Secretary on behalf of the Anambra State Public Officers and Elders Forum (ASPOF).
