The Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, has congratulated the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, on his victory at the Supreme Court affirming him as the governor of Kogi State.
Prince Audu’s congratulatory message was conveyed in a statement issued by his Special Assistant Media, Lizzy Okoji, following the landmark judgement delivered at the Apex Court at the weekend in Abuja, declaring Gov. Ododo as the duly elected governor of the state.
Prince Audu described the judgement of the Supreme Court as a victory for democracy and the electoral process, which pronouncement was a true reflection of the will of the people of Kogi State.
The Minister, who also served as the Director General of the Kogi State All Progressives Congress (APC) Gubernatorial Campaign Council that led the party and Ododo to victory at the November 11, 2023, elections, said that he had always believed that the victory will be affirmed by the Supreme Court at the end.
“Today is indeed a remarkable day for the people of Kogi State and for our great party, the APC, as we celebrate this landmark judgement of the Supreme Court affirming His Excellency, Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo, as the winner of the November 11, 2023 governorship elections in Kogi State.
“As Director General of the Campaign Council, I knew this day would come because it was an election that was free, fair, credible and a true reflection of the will of majority of Kogites.
“Like I said after the previous rulings at both the tribunal and appellate courts, the elections and judicial proceedings are now over; let us all bury the hatchets and forge ahead as one people. I urge all Kogites, irrespective of our political inclinations, creed or ethnic and religious leanings to come together and accept the judgement of the Supreme Court. Let us all work together on building a better, more peaceful, and prosperous Kogi state.
“I also urge all the supporters of our party to celebrate this victory with caution without causing provocations to opponents in other parties. Beyond party differences and affiliations, we are all brothers and sisters and we must continue to believe in one Kogi.
“So on behalf of myself, my family and the entire staff and Management of the Federal Ministry of Steel Development, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo on this monumental and historic victory,” Prince Audu stated.
