Hon. Gumi advocates for e- governance, AI in public safety, emergency management

Hon. Sulaiman Abubakar Gumi, Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Safety Standards and Regulations, emphasized the need for Nigeria to adopt e-governance and policy framework.

He made this statement while delivering a keynote address on Public Safety, Emergency Management, and Environmental Sustainability.

The event was held at the International Conference & Awards on Health, Safety, Security, and Emergency Response Ready (SafERR) Global Institute in Lagos State.

Hon. Gumi stressed that public safety is the cornerstone of a functioning society.

He noted that public safety ensures communities are protected from crime, disasters, and accidents.

Hon. Gumi emphasized that public safety extends beyond mere response.

It encompasses proactive measures, community engagement, and creating environments where people feel secure.

He highlighted the importance of using technology and data analytics to predict and prevent threats.

This approach fosters trust and cooperation between law enforcement and communities.

Hon. Gumi also emphasized the need for effective emergency management.

This involves preparation, response, recovery, and mitigation.

He stressed the importance of robust planning and coordination across all levels of government and community organizations.

The conference saw Hon. Gumi conferred with the Fellow of the Institute, alongside other awardees.

The adoption of e-governance and policy framework, e-health, smart healthcare, Artificial Intelligence, and applications is crucial for Nigeria’s development. ‎
