Rivers LG Polls: Fubara is a democrat, disregard endorsement claims, Dagogo tells electorates

By Emma Okereh

Few weeks to the October 5 local government area election in Rivers State, chairmanship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Ambassador Fubara Dagogo has declared that the state governor, Siminilayi Fubara has not endorsed any candidate.

He described the governor as a very careful administrator, who carries his stakeholders along in all he does, adding that he cannot afford to use the LGA election to divide his SIMplified Movement house that has given him massive support in Rivers state.

The NNPP candidate who is also a staunch supporter of the governor and member of his inner political family, the SIMplified Movement, assured that the election would be open for his grab, based on his experience, manifesto and covenant with the people of his local government area.
He noted it is his desire to move the LGA forward to it’s desired position in the state.

Ambassador Dagogo who made the declaration in a chat with the media on Wednesday in Abuja, noted that the governor has carefully stayed away from endorsing any candidate ahead of the election because he has remained a true democrat, adding that the way he has carried every stakeholder along in his administration of the state is enough to prove his neutrality in the spirit of democracy in the election.

He therefore charged the people of Bonny to disregard any candidate’s claims that he or she has been endorsed by Governor Fubara, describing such as a ploy to cause problems for the governor by dragging his name into what he is not.

“We have a God fearing, careful and democratic governor who has always believed in the unity of his people. Governor Fubara has remained a true democrat and very careful not to align himself with any particular candidate in this election. This is because he understands that the election is a family thing, since a good number of the candidates belong to the same political family with him, irrespective of our diverse political parties.

“We all have provided the massive support that he has relied on to salvage the state amid the running battle. Therefore he cannot at this time decide to take sides and divide the united political family he has struggled to put together. So people should please focus on their campaign and desist from dragging the governor into the election. The obvious thing is that he has not endorsed any particular candidate and does not intend to do that.

“That position of the governor has given me and my team more strength and we are highly focused as our campaign has remained what we have promised and our covenant with the people. We are determined in our quest for the actualization of a new Bonny, and we have no doubt that we are gradually going there. Our Bonny deserves far more than what it is and where it is right now. So with the support of our people, we are sure of winning the election in the interest of our Bonny brothers and sisters,” Ambassador Fubara Dagogo assured.
