Kogi First Lady drums up more support for the girl-child

As Kogi State joins the global celebration of the 2024 International Day of the Girl-Child, the state’s First Lady, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, has urged stakeholders across Nigeria to provide greater support to help girls excel in their chosen careers.

In a statement commemorating the occasion, Mrs. Ododo emphasized the importance of empowering girls to realize their full potential, noting that doing so would address the numerous challenges they face and foster hope for a brighter future for Nigerian girls.

According to a press release from her media office on Friday, the First Lady praised the courage and determination of girls who, despite obstacles, work tirelessly to improve their families’ well-being and contribute positively to society.

Mrs. Ododo also highlighted her administration’s commitment to uplifting girls through various initiatives since the inception of the Ododo administration in Kogi State. These include the promotion of ICT and vocational education for girls, providing them with the necessary skills to thrive in technology, as well as encouraging their participation in agriculture to boost economic growth.

Additionally, she commended the impact of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) led by the Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, which has empowered many young girls and women nationwide, helping to restore their hopes for a better future.

The Kogi First Lady extended her congratulations to girls on this special day and reaffirmed her commitment to addressing the issues that hinder their progress in Kogi State.

The theme of the 2024 International Day of the Girl-Child is “Girls’ Vision For The Future.”
