In a statement released Thursday, October 17, in Abuja, FORIJA’s Secretary General, Omonu YG Nelson, described the governor’s action as a laudable achievement that demonstrates his commitment to the welfare of workers in the state.

The statement further urged the governor to sustain the current timely payment of salaries.

The new minimum wage, which took effect on October 7, 2024, is a significant boost to the welfare of civil servants in Kogi State. Governor Ododo’s administration has been working tirelessly to promote economic growth, provide better working conditions, social security, and fair wages for civil servants.

With his background in accounting and auditing, Governor Ododo has brought financial expertise to the governor’s office. Previously serving as Auditor-General for Local Governments in Kogi State, he has demonstrated his ability to manage resources effectively.

FORIJA urges continued collaboration between the government and civil servants to foster a productive work environment, even as it calls on other state governments to take a cue from Governor Ododo’s humanitarian gesture by prioritising civil servant welfare in their respective states.

The people of Kogi State await the positive impact of this bold initiative on their lives, as FORIJA looks forward to seeing the continued growth and development of the state under Ododo’s exemplary leadership.
