Church renovates block of class rooms for AMAC school

By Abbanobi -Eku Onyekachi

His Treasure House International Ministries, has renovated and inaugurated a block of two class rooms at Local Education Authority primary school, Durumi III community in Abuja Municipal Areas Council (AMAC).

Speaking at the commissioning and presentation of books, bags, other writing materials to the school, the Ministry’s Lead Pastor, Godwin Uwubanmen, appealed to the Area Council to equip the school.

He said providing requisite equipment for schools will help indigent children to enjoy what their rich counterparts are enjoying in private schools.

Uwubanmen said, “AMAC is the closest government to the people. I hail them for performance, but my appeal is that, whatever they are doing, let them redouble it because most children in the public schools can’t enjoy what those in the private schools are enjoying. So let government take proper care of the public schools, for the interest of the indigent children.”

He said the church has been assisting the school due to the fact that it is within the catchment area, even as he added that they wouldn’t be coming to the school’s assistance, if the management hasn’t been utilizing their assistance to the school, saying, “God doesn’t encourage wastage.”

“This is one of the schools within our catchment area, we have been assisting public schools to have access to some of those things private schools have access to, and our target is for the people to glorify God from what we are doing,” Uwubanmen explained.

Among what the Ministry has been doing, according to the lead pastor, are visiting hospitals and offsetting bills of those who couldn’t do that; organizing free medical treatment in community schools; visiting prisoners; giving scholarships in public schools to indigent students. All these, he informed that they have been doing through members’ goodwills and donations.

Head, Exam Unit of the school, Solomon Jabi, hailed the Ministry for the gesture, even as he advised the school management to utilize the assistance given to them. Jabi also said that the government can come in to fence the school, provide security and post more qualified teachers to the school.

Similarly, the Headteacher, Mrs Franca Durhen Kaslong promised to ensure that the assistance from the Ministry is well utilized.

She decried neglect of schools, saying that the abandonment of schools should be blamed on the government.

“Due to the neglect we have been suffering at the hand of the government, we have been going on strike. Abandonment of schools should be blamed on the government. We usually embark on strike, due to the fact that the government doesn’t pay our entitlements.

“So while I hail the giant strides of this Ministry in this school, I shall ensure that the assistance is utilized. As I appeal to the government to recognize our efforts and also take proper care of schools, I call on parents to do their parts as we the teachers are doing our own,” the headteacher appealed
